The Swedes are first to acknowledge, already having pirate Members
of the European Parliament. Germany joined as the irreversible
information revolution is growing stronger. More than 35 pirate
parties already sprung up all over the world. Next time, the torrent
of information revolution will inundate even more land.
The recent German Federal election results show that the central
concerns of the Party - Civil rights, a fair system for creative and
scientific works, a more direct democracy and unhindered access to
information - meet the approval of an increasing amount of people
in Germany.
Jens Seipenbusch, Chairman of the German Pirate Party, says: "Our
new style of politics touches the nerve of the people in Germany.
We will continue to bank on participatory politics and to fight
for civil rights online as well as offline."
Germany overcame two dictatorships in a hundred years, and yet
politicians begin to demand a secret police again, ignoring trias
politica - the foundation of modern politics. The Pirates will
stand fast, smoothing the waves of democracy.
Multinational institutions and treaties are abused to torpedo
cornerstones of a stable society. Their aim is to deviously push
through illicit measures of collection, retention and exchange of
intimate information on every citizen. The international pirate
armada keeps close watch on the information treasure of those
who matter.
The recent introduction of internet censorship laws by German
politicians - laws that were opposed by a hundred thousands of
citizens and uncountable experts - left people with the feeling that
they are not represented by the established parties. This recent
success in the parliamentary elections show that a lot of German
voters welcome the pirate movement as a solution to this situation.
Pirate parties worldwide are joining forces to break the ice
of perfidy and clear the way for a sustainable future. Our best
wishes go to all German pirates in that they succeed to challenge
our politics even more in the upcoming years.
